Key Features

• Dual Timelines Intertwined: The Valley of Ravens tells the story of two women, centuries apart, living in the Welsh mountains. Eve, a modern-day newcomer, seeks to restore an abandoned cottage locals call “The Witch’s House.” Meanwhile, in 1260, Alys, the first resident of the house, wields her rare healing gift to tend to Llewelyn—the last true Prince of Wales. The interplay between their stories forms the novel’s compelling backbone.
• A Spellbinding Historical Mystery: As Eve uncovers the layers of history buried deep in the Valley of Ravens, she hopes to unravel the secrets Alys vowed to keep. Barbara Erskine expertly blends historical fact with folklore and suspense, crafting a narrative that is as eerie and mysterious as the Welsh valley itself.
• Strong, Complex Women Characters: Both Eve and Alys are portrayed with nuance and depth. Their stories explore themes of healing, betrayal, vengeance, and the resilience of women through time. This emotional core adds weight and richness to the historical plotline.
• Acclaimed Writing Style: Praised by authors like Santa Montefiore and Peter James, Erskine’s prose glides smoothly between timelines and creates atmospheric, multi-layered storytelling. Readers often highlight how immersive and vivid the novel feels, truly transporting them into the story.
• Highly Rated and Popular: With a strong 4.4 out of 5 stars from over 1800 readers, this book has struck a chord with those who appreciate historical fiction mixed with suspenseful mystery.
